Emmalia Monroe: A Life of Creation and Humility

Update: The Next $1000 Matched by Generous Family Donor!

Thank you for making your gift or sharing the page today!

Emmalia Anne Monroe was a Junior at Western Washington University at the time of her passing in August 2024. Emmalia was a planned Audio Recording and Music major through Fairhaven College, but she also took multiple theatre and dance classes at Western and was planning to complete a minor in Dance. She loved spending time dancing again through her classes. Emmalia was a grounding presence for her professors, peers, friends, and her family.

She grew up taking dance classes and performing with her local dance schools and children's theatre in her hometown of Poulsbo, Washington. Emmalia shared her talents with WWU’s Student Theatre Productions (STP's) production of Trail to Oregon in May of 2024, when she served as the production choreographer and was elected to serve as the Dance Ambassador for STP's 2024-2025 Board of Directors. Her name is left on our Board for this year to honor her creative brilliance and dedication to the arts throughout her lifetime. She also enjoyed playing guitar and writing her own music. Her dream was to release her music and share it with others.

The goal of this scholarship is to honor Emmalia’s life and life’s dream by giving to another student with similar aspirations. Emmalia (Em) was consistently kind and humble. She loved performing with others and the act of co-creating and sharing her talents. She was intensely funny, an old soul who loved artists like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Greta Van Fleet, and a long-time animal and nature lover.

We, Student Theatre Productions & Emmalia's family, hope to raise money for a student committed to the performing arts who is supported by a single-parent household and has financial need like Em.

Emmalia always put the people she loved most before herself. Through this scholarship, we hope to share Emmalia’s spirit of service and desire to support others in reaching their goals.

Thank you for your donation and consideration in honoring a daughter, friend, and artist who we miss so deeply.
